This 430 m² contemporary cottage in Obraztsovo village represents a refined synthesis of traditional Russian architectural heritage and modern design principles. Set within the scenic landscape of the Moscow region, the residence demonstrates exceptional sensitivity to natural materials, environmental context, and landscape integration. The overarching design philosophy emphasizes sustainability, comfort, and a seamless connection to the surrounding natural environment.

The architectural character is shaped by a distinguished combination of natural stone foundations, warm wood siding, and classic red clay roof tiles. These materials anchor the structure within its regional context while expressing a timeless, understated elegance. Large panoramic windows frame expansive views of the landscaped grounds and flood interior spaces with natural light. The multi-level massing creates a dynamic exterior composition yet maintains a human scale through carefully considered proportions. Stone terraces and integrated pathways form fluid transitions between indoor and outdoor living areas, reinforcing the unity between architecture and landscape.

Inside, the interior architecture continues the celebration of natural textures and craftsmanship. Custom millwork, stone accents, and a sophisticated lighting strategy define each space with its own character while contributing to a coherent design narrative. Open floor plans support an intuitive flow throughout the residence, while more intimate alcoves and recessed seating areas offer moments of retreat and quiet contemplation.

One of the standout features is the custom-designed wine cellar, where traditional craftsmanship meets modern functionality. Natural stone walls, arched storage niches, and handcrafted wooden racks create an authentic environment for wine preservation. The adjoining tasting room, furnished with rustic dining pieces and ambient lighting, offers a warm and inviting space for social gatherings, embodying the perfect balance between architectural beauty and purpose.

Wellness and relaxation are integral components of the design. The spa and wellness zone features glass-enclosed saunas, custom wood-clad bathtubs, and contemporary fixtures that elevate the sensory experience. The use of natural materials continues in these areas, complemented by precise track lighting that provides both functional illumination and soft atmospheric glow, enhancing the overall sense of luxury.

The landscape design completes the project’s immersive quality. Extensive landscaping transforms the property into a park-like environment with mature trees, seasonal planting compositions, and natural stone pathways that follow the site’s topography. Outdoor living areas are defined yet organically integrated, offering privacy and year-round visual interest.

Sustainability underpins every design decision. Passive solar strategies—achieved through thoughtful window placement, roof overhangs, and orientation—reduce energy consumption. The reliance on durable natural materials minimizes environmental impact while ensuring longevity. The overall design works harmoniously with the site’s natural features, creating comfortable microclimates and reinforcing the cottage’s strong environmental connection.

Together, these elements form a residence that is both rooted in tradition and aligned with contemporary living, offering a holistic environment where architecture, nature, and comfort coexist in perfect balance.
