The Residential Complex in Yerevan proposes a contemporary multi-family housing solution through the vertical extension of an existing building and the addition of a new residential wing. The existing structure, originally composed of two semi-basement levels and one above-ground floor, is upgraded with two additional residential floors, significantly increasing its capacity. On the northern side of the site, a new two-storey volume is introduced and connected to the existing building’s façade, creating an L-shaped residential complex that frames the plot from the north and west.
This strategy forms a semi-enclosed landscaped courtyard on the southeast, offering residents a protected outdoor environment for leisure and recreation—an essential quality in Yerevan residential architecture, where courtyard housing remains a highly valued typology. The project demonstrates a thoughtful approach to urban infill architecture, maximizing density while improving living quality.
To enhance pedestrian access, a small entrance plaza is organized on the western side of the complex. This plaza integrates bicycle and stroller parking, planting beds, shrubs, and resident seating, strengthening the building’s presence as a comfortable and community-oriented multi-family residential development. Vehicular access to parking is arranged from the northern side, leading into a semi-enclosed parking level located at +0.20 of the new building. Both the parking slab and roof structure are designed as double reinforced-concrete systems, fully compliant with Armenian construction norms and SN standards.
After reconstruction, the first (existing) building will consist of three above-ground floors and two semi-basement levels, while the new wing will feature two above-ground floors, a semi-enclosed parking level at ±0.000, two semi-basement levels accommodating three duplex apartments with direct courtyard access, and an attic floor with a large private terrace. This combination reinforces the project’s role within Yerevan’s evolving multi-storey residential architecture.
Both buildings include accessible flat roofs with internal drainage systems. The existing building’s roof becomes a shared rooftop leisure area, complete with a summer kitchen and recreational zone, supporting community interaction and outdoor living. The roof of the new wing is dedicated to solar panel installations, providing renewable energy for common-area electricity, courtyard lighting, entrance zones, elevators, pumps, and irrigation systems, thus aligning the project with sustainable residential development in Armenia.
The inner courtyard is fully landscaped, featuring tree planting, night lighting, a drip irrigation system, shrubs, green buffers, and a children’s playground. This green core reinforces the identity of the complex as a human-centered residential environment, combining modern architecture with the principles of comfort, sustainability, and community-based urban living in Yerevan.
