To ensure a more efficient operation of the Yerevan Metro, it is proposed to close the loop, creating a flexible connection with the densely populated western districts of the city.
A looped metro line would serve as an alternative, strategic underground transport link between different parts of Yerevan, but it would not be able to fully solve the city’s transportation problems. A more practical, faster, and modern solution is a cable-car transit network.
The proposed cable-car system is intended to serve the districts and neighborhoods of Kanaker-Zeytun, Avan, Avan-Arinj, Nork 1–9 Blocks, TV Studio area, Erebuni, Sasuntsi Davit Railway Station, Nubarashen, HAT, Malatia, Ajapnyak, Arabkir, Kievyan, Komitas, and Davtashen.
Cable cars are efficient and suitable not only for safety and cost-effectiveness but also for improving the city’s ecosystem, supporting the sustainable development of modern urban transport systems, and boosting tourism.
