Inside the Studio: How We Work

At Ithaka, architecture begins long before the first drawing reaches the computer screen. It begins with ideas, conversations, and sketches.

Our studio places great value on the conceptual stage of design. Even in a highly digital century, we still believe in the power of traditional thinking tools – quick sketches with pencils, markers, diagrams drawn by hand, and open discussions around the table. These early explorations allow us to test ideas freely, question assumptions, and search for the strongest architectural direction before moving into technical development.

Early-stage architectural collaboration: ideas taking shape through sketches, discussion, and shared creativity around the table.

Over the past two decades, our team has been involved in the design of more than one million square meters of architectural space, with over half of these projects successfully realized and built, across various typologies and countries. During this time, more than 1000 professionals – architects, designers, engineers, and specialists – have collaborated with our studio across a wide range of projects and scales.

Our work continues the professional legacy of an earlier firm established in 1991, which focused on conservation projects of monuments. Today, this experience forms the foundation of our practice while allowing us to move forward with new ideas, technologies, and approaches.

What defines our studio culture is collaboration and curiosity. We value flexible minds, open dialogue, and the ability to explore multiple solutions before arriving at the right one.

At the core of every project are principles of sustainability, accessibility, and long-term urban value. We believe architecture must not only serve present needs but also respond responsibly to environmental and social challenges.

As our studio continues to grow and develop new projects, we are always interested in meeting motivated architects, designers, and collaborators who share our curiosity and dedication to thoughtful design.
