During this year’s Milan Design Week and the vibrant Fuorisalone, ITHAKA Studio immersed itself in one of the most influential moments in the global design calendar.
Over the course of the week, we explored a wide spectrum of installations, exhibitions, and showrooms across the city — from established brands to emerging designers redefining the boundaries of contemporary design. The experience offered a comprehensive overview of current directions in furniture, materials, and spatial concepts

A key focus of our visit was engaging directly with leading Italian furniture designers and manufacturers. Through conversations and meetings, we gained valuable insight into new production techniques, evolving material palettes, and the practical realities behind pricing and fabrication. These exchanges are essential in ensuring that our projects remain both innovative and grounded in real-world feasibility.
Milan Design Week also provided an opportunity to reconnect with long-time collaborators while establishing new professional relationships. The informal and dynamic nature of Fuorisalone creates a unique environment where ideas circulate freely, fostering meaningful dialogue between disciplines.

Among the most notable trends observed this year were a renewed emphasis on tactile materials, experimental finishes, and a growing integration of technology within traditional craftsmanship. Sustainability continues to play a central role, not only as a concept but as a tangible driver of design decisions.
Our visit to Milan reinforces ITHAKA’s commitment to staying closely connected to the international design landscape — continuously learning, adapting, and translating these insights into our architectural and interior projects.
